They are well-rounded classes, and although they will benefit anybody, they were specifically created for 50 year olds and above. I have created them since the age of 50. People aged 50 or so are in unique transitions. Women have fully entered menopause and men are dealing with mild or extreme “manopause.” These are times of major energy shifts and can be physically and emotionally challenging. Both of these are stages we enter (and eventually exit) and I wanted to help people move through these stages maintaining optimal health. As we age, we lose strength and elasticity. But, that does not mean that we become less healthy. We just need to adjust our exercises to fit this unique stage we are in. Just as we amp things up when we were young we need to amp things down as we age, getting optimal benefit from exercise with absolutely no detriment. There are still many dynamic possibilities and opportunities. I'd like to provide a practice that people can participate in that doesn't look or feel overwhelming. I also wanted to create a fitness experience that would leave people feeling amazing, regardless of the stage of life they are in (but especially for those 50 and above). Lastly, I wanted people to view this stage of their life in a positive light. There is much to learn from these changes and there's no doubt these lessons enhance the quality of our life and relationships.

What to Expect

Although these are short practices they should leave you feeling like you used your limited time wisely. These short practices are definitely enough for a daily wellness routine so feel free to use these daily. You can do these daily for as long as you’d like.

Our cancer recovery yoga series was created by cancer survivor Hilaire Lockwood and is based on her 15+ years of living with cancer, with a focus on healing and approaching disease as best we can from a tangible yoga practice.

Each class in this series focuses on a different stage in one’s cancer journey - from diagnosis to recovery, and rediscovery of self. The hope is always that we feel better physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually after every class. Depending on where you are in your cancer journey, this will re-energize but also give you permission to simply be as you are in your process.

These classes could be done every day if you choose and the series can take as long as your cancer journey takes.

The Chakra yoga series contains short practices with a focus on posture, breath, and meditation to open up different areas of our mind and body, specifically our chakras or energy points. Every chakra affects different systems. For example the second, hips, and low belly. If we are holding something emotional hips may be tight, our belly might be upset, digestion might be affected.

Do them as often as you choose. Once you get to know the systems, you’ll start to know what you need that day. Each class has a timestamp. You could do one or more in one session.
